Reflective Account Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Reflective Account - Essay ExampleThis strategy is also developed based on the necessitate of creating real partnership between patients, health workers and stakeholders within the field of health (Health Works A Review of the Scottish Governments Healthy Working Lives Strategy, 2010). In addition, the strategy satisfies the need of a clean health guardianship environment and continuance of health care services. It also promotes excellence in clinical medicine and health care provision. This paper seeks to use Gibbs reflective model to consider Scottish Governments Quality Strategy (2010), which will help me analyze in stage on my role in providing seamless care. The paper will focus on safe effective discharge planning in writing a reflective account and consider professional, legal and ethical issues, evidence-based care, multidisciplinary team working, last making / prioritization, care planning, effective communication skills, and implications for future practice. Descriptio n This is a reprimand on my role as a health professional in charge of ensuring safe and effective discharge of patients from the hospital to their homes. This reflection is aligned with the policies established by the 2010 Quality Health Framework. The reflective framework used is the one advocated by Johns (2000) it is based on certain clues, such as description of the experience, reflection, incidentors that influenced my decision and other choices available that could influence my decision and lessons learnt from the experience. The role of discharge planning team involves coordinating transition of a patient from the Hospital to their homes. This is due to the fact that safe transition to their homes is an important process in the recuperation of a patient. As a member of the discharge team, it is my responsibility to advise the patient on the importance of recovering in a rehabilitation facility or at home. For example, on a reflection of what happened in the past while I was on placement in Accident and Emergency Dept the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS). I was asked to recommend treatment for an old diabetic man who just finished his treatment at the hospital. As a member of the discharge team, I recommended that the patient looks for a home care so that he whitethorn efficaciously respond the treatment administered, this recommendation was however overruled by the family of the old man, in spite of the assertions by Geriatric professionals that the patient has the capability of a quick recovery if enrolled in a care home, as opposed to his house (Clare & Hofmeyer, 1996). Feelings On reflection, this was a very unpleasant experience that occurred in my life in my duties. It may have been both unprofessional and unethical to suggest to the old man that he attends a care home for his quick recovery, without prior consultations. It would have been heady to have consultations made with other professionals and families members who were concerned with the health condition of the old man. This is because the process of recovery involves various stakeholders including doctors, the patient her/himself, nurses, family members, social workers, and geriatric professionals. Through this experience, I realized the importance of communication in effective provision of medical and health care services (Riley,

Role of marketing in a consumer society Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Role of merchandising in a consumer nightclub - Essay Example market can be said to set about both positive and negative effects on society and consequently the study of marketing strategies must entangle both effects if one were to convey an objective and reasoned approach to it.Marketing plays a vital role in mediating between the producers and the consumers of severes and services. Without marketing, the consumers would not be qualified to get information regarding the products that the producers argon producing and hence be bereft of the information needed to make informed purchases. Without marketing, the producers of goods and services would be unable to communicate the benefits of owning products and hence they would not be in a position to relay the necessary information to the consumers. Ever since the advent of the mass produced modes of production and patterns of mass consumption, marketing has been regarded as the indispensable medium through which the conversation between the producers and consumers happens. This is the reason for the huge marketing budgets that producers have and the way in which the media is used to broadcast images and advertisements is another expression of the consumer society that we live in (Mooij, 1998, 15). This paper addresses the question, what is the role of marketing in a consumer society? by analyzing the case of orchard apple tree Inc., which is renowned for its innovative and in advance(p) approach to marketing. The readings assigned for the course as well as the textbooks that are prescribed are referred to for this paper as well as external question into the marketing methods of Apple and the way in which it has established a position for itself in the contemporary hi-tech marketplace. Marketing can be said to have both positive and negative effects on society and hence the study of marketing strategies must include both effects if one were to take an objective and reasoned approach to it. As the readin gs make it clear, the era of mass produced goods and the consumer society we live in has seen marketing as a force for good as well as something that has negative connotations. The focus of this paper is on a critical examination of how marketing is practiced in a consumer society with an emphasis on how Apple has used marketing to further its interests. Segmentation Apple focuses mainly on substance abusers who are 30 years or jr. and as a study by Rubicon (2008) found out, 50% of the users who use Apples products fall into this segment. Hence, it makes sense for Apple to orient its marketing strategies towards this segment and as can be seen from the branding and marketing strategies that Apple employs to target its core customer base. Further, it has been found that Apple has one of the highest return customers or customers who buy another Apple product and hence can be considered as giving repeat business to the company. The typical strategy followed by Apple is not horizontal m arketing like making a special type of peanut butter for every customer but in attractive in vertical marketing where it produces a specific product for each type of use. This can be seen in the way that Apple has produced an IPod for listening, IPad for reading and IPhone for apps. The mention here is that Apple does not add features to target individual customers in each segment. Rather, they target specific user experiences and build the product around that user experience accordingly. This approach of Apple towards market segmentation makes for a study by itself. Apples approach of targeting a specific market and because producing high quality products for that market segment is novel and something that has been successful for the company. As the following quote about market segmentation shows it is the conventional theories of segmentation that normally dictate the strategies of the companies, In the real world of building products and attacking market opportunities, market segmentation is the process of defining and sub-dividing the aggregate, homogeneous market into addressable, targeted needs and aspirations buckets, which are in turn, defined by thresholds according to demographic, psychographic and/or budgetary constraints. Market segmentation strategy enables a company to drive complete, unified product solutions that are harmonious with messaging,

Unit 4 Discussion Social Problems - Research Paper standardIn my view deterrence, which is the prospect of unpleasant punishment that will put people off with the idea of committing that umbrage (Corbett, 2005), seems to best fit upon the criteria and objective of punishment. disincentive helps achieve the objective of punishing the offender of the crime that has been committed and also whitethorn help avoid future such action. The condition that lies with it is that it should be effective enough. In my view, the near ineffective punishment is incapacitation. Incapacitation may be severe in terms of the punishment the offender is entitled to receive plus it may infuriate the offender such so he would increase the severity of crimes after being released, in order to retaliate.Juveniles get involved in crime due to drug addiction, bad company, peer pressure, bad relations with parents, and lack of supervision (Saminsky, 2010).
